Our trials and tribulations of growing our own veggies

Peppers.jpg

This was our first year growing things in our new greenhouse, We planted our own pepper seeds in April when the weather was gloriously hot and they germinated in no time at all... then we planted them on into pots and the weather changed got really cold rained all the time, our wee pepper plants just didnt thrive and they died..

We bought this established plant from our local garden centre and it did much better and produced some great wee peppers

CherryTomatoes.jpg

We had a great success with our cherry tomatoes tho' and they have done us proud all summer producing lovely sweet wee fruits.

Based on the success of these this year they we will be planting more next year.   One thing we did decide on was that instead of growbags on the floor of the greenhouse we will put the tomato plants into pots for next year, they will be more manageable that way.

Raddish.jpg

This is the lone survivor of our first raddish crop.  We had problems with the pup this year and caught him pulling up the raddish by their leaves and eating the whole plant root and all!..

Potatoes.jpg

We planted potatoes this year too, in containers, and this is the result of one container... its been a bad year this year for potatoes, too much rain! even blight resistant potatoes got blight!... here's to a better growing season next year.

Basil.jpg

We grew a pot of basil from seed... took aaaaaggges to germinate and this is the result... a gorgeous pot of sweet smelling basil.
